cast iron and ductile iron

It is interesting to learn about the cast iron and ductile iron! Both of these materials are common in construction and manufacturing given that they are both strong and durable. But there are crucial differences between them.

Cast iron has been around for a long time. It is produced by melting iron and pouring it into a mold to create a range of shapes. Cast iron is tough but brittle. This makes it useful for things like cooking pots, pipes and even statues.

The superior strength and durability of cast iron

Ductile iron is modern version of cast iron. It is produced by smelting a small amount of magnesium in melted iron. That, in turn, is what makes ductile iron so bendy and strong. It is excellent for jobs requiring the combination of strength and flexibility.

It is strong enough to handle high heat and heavy weight. It’s frequently employed for such critical things as engine components and machines. Its hardness means it resists wear and tear, so items made from cast iron can be long lasting.
